KREIDEZEIT Limewash is a thin, semi-opaque lime wash paint for interior use. Special lime wash that has been stored for several years, combined with our earth and mineral pigments and a special painting technique, creates the characteristic iridescent limewash effect.
For normal coverage and a more even lime finish, use our KREIDEZEIT lime wash paint.
Ideal for painting in damp rooms due to its high diffusion capacity, long-lasting alkalinity, and condensation-resistant surface. No synthetic resin binders or synthetic pigments such as titanium white are added.
Suitable substrates for interior use
Untreated mineral plasters, concrete, stone, masonry, plasterboard, gypsum fiber boards, paper fleece. Ideal for use on KREIDEZEIT lime paint and lime plasters.

Application
The recommended application method is painting with a flat paintbrush or a paintbrush in a criss-cross pattern.
The typical cloudy Limewash surfaces are created in particular by applying the paint in patches across the wall surface, gradually painting the entire wall by applying individual patches. The characteristic effect is created as the transitions and overlaps dry.
Do not touch up any imperfections after the paint has been applied or dried! Touch-ups can vary greatly in colour.
Dilution
Limewash is ready to use.
Repaintability and renovation
KREIDEZEIT Limewash can be repainted with KREIDEZEIT Limewash or Lime Paint.
Tinting
Can be tinted with all KREIDEZEIT earth and mineral pigments.
The colour effect is different from our other wall paints and is
difficult to show using colour decks. Test areas on a suitable
surface are recommended.
Guide values for adjusting the colour tones from our KREIDEZEIT
colour deck ‘Wall paints & plasters’:
- Shade A = approx. 40 g pigments on 1 kg Limewash
- Shade B = approx. 20 g pigments on 1 kg Limewash
- Shade C = approx. 4 g pigments on 1 kg Limewash
Colour charts are available from KREIDEZEIT and dealers. First
sludge the pigments lump-free with a little water and then add
to the Limewash. The pigments can be mixed with each other
as desired. Added pigments can limit the shelf life. Limewash
tinted with ultramarine pigments must be processed within 48
hours.
Drying times
approx. 4-6 hours at temperatures around 20 °C and a humidity
of 65 %. Low temperatures extend the drying time.
Cleaning the tools
Immediately after use with water.
Can be tinted with all KREIDEZEIT earth- und mineral pigments.

Colour charts are available from KREIDEZEIT and its retailers.
First, mix the pigments with a little water until there are no lumps, then add them to the paint. The pigments can be mixed together as desired. Adding pigments may reduce the shelf life of the paint. Instruction for mixing
Lime paints tinted with ultramarine pigments must be used within 12 hours. Ultramarine pigments are not suitable for outdoor use.
